Michael Chioldi Performs at Chautauqua Opera in Puccini's 'Manon Lescaut'

CHAUTAUQUA, NEW YORK - Internationally acclaimed, EMMY award-winning opera star, Michael Chioldi, returns to Chautauqua Opera in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut July 27 and July 30.

Chioldi lends his rich, powerful voice to the vigorous role of Lescaut. Chioldi is known for his “riveting stage presence and beautiful, powerful voice” (The New York Times). As an opera elite, he has sung with nearly every major opera company in America, including the Metropolitan Opera, San Francisco Opera, Houston Grand Opera, New York City Opera, Washington National Opera and Los Angeles Opera. Internationally he has traveled extensively in Japan with Maestro Seiji Osawa, and has recently appeared in Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Macau and Spain.

In Puccini’s good girl gone bad drama, the beautiful Manon is whisked away to an extravagant life by the wealthy Geronte; but when a romance blooms with the ever- charming Des Grieux will she trade in her riches for true love? Based on Abbe Prevost’s scandalous novella, Chautauqua Opera’s new production is sure to delight and entice!
